Our curriculum is designed around the holistic needs of our Pupils and is shaped by their individual goals, strengths, interests, learning styles and aspirations for adulthood. Through a highly personalised and meaningful learning approach, we ensure that every Pupil can access a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum that promotes progress, independence and wellbeing. 

In line with the Curriculum for Wales, our curriculum supports Pupils to become: 

• Ambitious, capable learners who are ready to learn throughout their lives; 

• Enterprising, creative contributors who can apply their skills in a range of contexts; 

• Ethical, informed citizens who understand their role within their communities and wider society; and 

• Healthy, confident individuals who are equipped to lead fulfilling lives. 

Our curriculum is underpinned by a therapeutic and trauma-informed approach, recognising that emotional wellbeing and positive relationships are fundamental to successful learning. Pupils have access to in-house creative therapies and speech and language therapy, which are integrated into teaching and learning wherever appropriate. Therapeutic interventions and strategies are embedded across the curriculum to reduce barriers to learning, develop communication and emotional regulation skills, and enable Pupils to engage successfully in their learning. 

Learning experiences are carefully planned to develop the knowledge, skills and experiences described within the six Areas of Learning and Experience (AoLEs), while remaining responsive to individual needs. Through this approach, we promote meaningful progress, communication, independence, resilience and preparation for adulthood, ensuring that every Pupil is supported to achieve their full potential and make a positive contribution to their community and society. 

Classes 

Class sizes are small, with the support of a Teacher and Teaching Assistant which allows for individualised learning and assists Pupils to reduce their individual barriers to learning.
