CEOP helps any child or young person under the age of 18 who is being pressured, forced or tricked into taking part in sexual activity of any kind. This can be something that has taken place either online or in ‘the real world’, or both. The CEOP Safety Centre has clear information and advice on what can be reported to CEOP, the reporting process and what will happen if you do decide to make a report. You can visit the CEOP Safety Centre and make a report directly to CEOP by clicking the Click CEOP button.

With the rise of digital platforms, young people are exposed to various online influences, some of which can be harmful.

The Netflix drama Adolescence has highlighted the dangers of radical online subcultures and hidden messages in social media. As parents, carers, and educators, it’s vital to stay informed and have open conversations about online safety.

Pupil Premium

Information for Parents/Carers

Pupil Premium is government funding provided to support the education and development of children and young people who may face additional barriers to learning. Funding is allocated based on eligibility criteria including Pupils who have been eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) and those who are currently, or have previously been, looked after by a Local Authority.

As a DfE-registered Independent School, we are required to operate differently from maintained Local Authority schools. While Pupils attending our school may be eligible for Pupil Premium, the funding is not paid directly to the school. Instead, responsibility for holding and allocating Pupil Premium funding remains with the placing Local Authority, who decide how the funding should be used to best meet the individual needs of the Pupil.

In all cases, decisions about how support and resources are provided are guided by the Pupil’s:
  • Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP),
  • Statement of Special Educational Needs,
  • Individual Development Plan (IDP), and/or
  • Personal Education Plan (PEP), where applicable.
These plans ensure there is a clear and personalised focus on enabling each Pupil to make progress and reach their individual potential. The Personal Education Plan (PEP) meeting is the primary forum for discussing how Pupil Premium funding may be used. These discussions are held collaboratively between the placing Local Authority, school leaders, and other relevant professionals, with the aim of ensuring that funding is used effectively to overcome identified barriers to learning.
Our use of Pupil Premium related support focuses on:
  • addressing individual learning and communication needs,
  • removing barriers to engagement and progress, and
  • supporting academic, social and emotional development.
This support may include a combination of targeted interventions and personalised provision, such as:
  • Small group work led by a suitably experienced teacher or Teaching Assistant, focused on specific barriers to learning
  • One-to-one support or targeted support/tuition
  • Confidence-building activities to support self-esteem and resilience
  • Emotional intelligence or wellbeing sessions to support social interaction and regulation
  • Additional teaching and learning opportunities delivered by our Team Members or through external specialist agencies
  • Access to additional resources and materials, particularly to support literacy and numeracy development
  • Enrichment opportunities or experiences for Pupils with particular interests or strengths that they may not otherwise be able to access
The impact and use of Pupil Premium funding is reviewed and reported annually. This process is overseen by the Headteacher, working in close partnership with the placing Local Authority, to ensure that funding is used responsibly and in the best interests of each eligible Pupil.

As part of our approach to reflective practice Phoenix Learning and Care recognise and embrace the importance of developing a culture of continual learning and development.  We welcome feedback on our achievements and the opportunity to share best practice, however we equally understand the importance of learning from our shortfalls. As such we welcome hearing about where we may have not lived up to our high standards and we truly value the opportunity to reflect and learn about areas that we need to develop further.

We treat all concerns appropriately and all complaints are investigated thoroughly following our complaints policy and procedure which can be found within the Policies section of this website.

REFERRALS

Our proprietors Phoenix Schools (South), welcome enquiries for placements in any of our services.

We will provide an initial response to all enquiries as soon as possible, advising the options available and indicative dates of admission.

The referrals team can discuss the local offer and where appropriate, put you in contact with the respective Registered Manager or Headteacher to discuss the practical areas in greater detail.

The Young Person and/or Pupil are openly encouraged to visit along with parents, guardians or Social Workers to see if the placement is suitable.

Once the placement is confirmed, we work to ensure a smooth transition including the completion of required documentation.

EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY

We work closely with our Children/Young People, their Parents/Carers and Professionals to create bespoke programmes of learning for Pupils, which are tailored to their educational and social and emotional needs, supporting them to achieve their full potential. This means that we deliver a personalised curriculum, which, where possible, acknowledges the national curriculum and meets the individual needs of our Pupils, whilst also supporting them to meet the outcomes identified in their statement of Education Needs / Individual Development Plans / Educational Healthcare Plans.

To achieve this, every Pupil has an Individual Education Plan which identifies their areas of need and how we can best address them, both in terms of Team Member approach and the curriculum that they are provided.  Our goal is to provide access to the best academic outcomes possible as well as preparing our Pupils for adulthood and the next stage of their education by equipping them with the skills required to achieve personal success.
