I am privileged to be the Head Teacher of Phoenix Academy and to support children and young people who have experienced difficulties in other educational settings to achieve their individual potential.

As an independent co-educational specialist provision, we specialise in supporting students from KS 2 – 4 with social, emotional and mental health difficulties and associated challenges. We create bespoke learning packages to meet individual need.

Our students are the centre of everything we do; we believe that all children should achieve academically, socially and emotionally. Through promoting equity throughout our school, we recognise individual differences and celebrate diversity, we provide support and education to meet the needs of each individual child or young person, enabling them to achieve nationally recognised qualifications, develop key skills, strengths and resilience, thus promoting personal wellbeing and a secure future.

Our ethos embraces the Phoenix values of honesty, empathy, aspiration, respect and teamwork; thus, we employ a wide range of approaches to ensure learning is equitable, interesting, engaging and relevant.

I look forward to celebrating the progress of our students.

At Phoenix Academy, the individual needs of our students are at the heart of all that we do.

We work closely with our children/young people, their families and professionals to create bespoke programmes of learning for students, which are tailored to their educational and social and emotional needs, supporting them to achieve their full potential. This means that we deliver a personalised curriculum, which, where possible, acknowledges the national curriculum and meets the individual needs of our students, whilst also supporting them to meet the outcomes identified in their EHCPs.

To achieve this, every student has an individual education plan which identifies their areas of need and how we can best address them, both in terms of staff approach and the curriculum that they are provided.  Our goal is to provide access to the best academic outcomes possible as well as preparing our students for adulthood and the next stage of their education by equipping them with the skills required to achieve personal success.
